Lapis Lazuli Jewellery

Our Lapis Lazuli Jewellery Collection uses hallmarked sterling silver wrapped in vermeil (gold plated silver) to enhance the striking celestial blue colour of the rough cut gemstone. Our Head Designer, Rebecca Smith, created the collection having been inspired by the natural look of the stone and the organic shape of each piece of Lapis Lazuli creates a truly unique piece of handmade jewellery, where no two items are the same.

As an alternative to Sapphire for the September birthstone, Lapis Lazuli has been sought after since ancient times as a universal symbol of wisdom and truth, and continues to depict royalty and honour. When it catches the light, this intense blue stone is noticeably flecked with gold, mirroring the night sky.

Today, mines in north east Afghanistan and Pakistan are the major source of Lapis Lazuli - a rock formed by multiple minerals mostly: Lazurite, Sodalite, Calcite and Pyrite. We source high-quality stones, and our stone cutter in Jaipur ensures a consistent deep-blue for our products, but lower grade Lapis Lazuli is a lighter blue with more white than gold flecks. For this reason, it is sometimes called Denim Lapis.
