Help and Guides

How to Measure Your Ring Size

It can be challenging to determine your ring size if you don't know what to do; many people come into our Ditchling Gallery to get their finger measured, but that's not always possible. That's why we've put together this guide with tips for measuring at home, so you can get the perfect fit wherever you are.

Before you get started, there are a few things to keep in mind

1. Avoid measuring your fingers when they are too hot or too cold. Let them warm up or cool down before attempting to measure them – you'll be amazed at how much fingers can fluctuate in size.

2. If you decide to use string to measure your ring size, make sure that it's not stretchy – this can impact the measurement by over-stretching or compressing the finger's width depending on how tight the string is tied around your finger.

3. Don't worry if you get it wrong. Most rings are resizable, and we offer one free resizing for all our rings.

Option 1: Use a ring sizer

Use a home ring sizer and size it up or down to see how it fits on your finger.

If you're not sure where to buy one, just search for "ring sizers" online, and you'll find lots of options available. Then, look at our sizing chart located on a ring product page.

Option 2: Use string or paper and a ruler

You'll need a piece of paper or string that is about the same length as your ring finger.

Wrap the paper or string around your finger and make sure it fits comfortably. Mark the string or paper at the point it meets.

Carefully measure the string or paper on a flat surface with a ruler – from the end to the mark – and look at our sizing chart below to find your ring size.

Option 3: Use a ring you already own

Another way to measure your ring size is to use a ring that you already know fits the correct finger.

All you need to do is print off our true-to-size guide – double-check that you print to scale, using the paper size outlined for accuracy – then put your ring over the circles on the template to find your ring size.
