A Century of Craftsmanship, Design, and Heritage
From our 100-year goldsmith heritage to discovering our unique designs and planning your visit to Ditchling in the South Downs National Park, we invite you to immerse yourself in our world.
Craftsmanship and Design
At Pruden and Smith, craftsmanship and design are our core. For over a century, we've created beautiful, enduring handmade jewellery by blending traditional techniques with modern innovation. Today, our head goldsmith, Simon Alexander, and Creative Director, Rebecca Smith, bring unique designs to life, inspired by Sussex's natural beauty. Rebecca's designs feature rugged textures, distinctive patterns, and organic curves, offering customisation that makes each piece a meaningful expression of personal style. Our work seamlessly combines contemporary aesthetics with timeless elegance, creating jewellery that resonates on a deeper level.
A Legacy of Craftsmanship Since the 1920s
Our heritage, rooted in over a century of handmade craftsmanship in the South East of England, is defined by a unique blend of innovative design and artistry. Since the 1920s, beginning with Dunstan Pruden’s early commissions and his pioneering work in silversmithing, through the establishment of Pruden and Smith by Anton and Rebecca in 1988, our journey has been one of continuous evolution. From ecclesiastical masterpieces to luxury jewellery, our commitment to excellence and tradition has earned us global recognition. In 2024, as Freemen of the Goldsmiths' Company, we proudly continue to uphold this legacy, merging tradition with contemporary design in every piece we create.
Sustainability, Inclusivity & Women-led Leadership
Our commitment extends beyond creating luxury jewellery; it involves respecting the environment, ensuring ethical practices, and empowering the people involved in every aspect of our work. Led by Rebecca Smith, a proud advocate of women-led leadership, we foster an inclusive environment that values diversity across all backgrounds. Our dedication to real handmade luxury means creating pieces that last for generations, backed by a 20-year guarantee and free lifelong repairs. We champion sustainability through jewellery remodelling, ethical sourcing with full traceability, and the use of recycled materials in our packaging, ensuring every aspect of our business aligns with our core values.
