About

Design & Craftsmanship

Since the beginning we have committed ourselves to the art of handmade excellence, crafting jewellery that is both beautiful and enduring. Each piece we create reflects our meticulous attention to detail, a hallmark of our work. Our skilled artisans, many of whom have honed their craft over decades, blend traditional techniques with modern innovations to produce jewellery that stands the test of time. This is real handmade jewellery, made to last for generations, not just seasons, using the finest materials and thoughtful design.

A deeper connection

Rebecca Smith, our Founder and Creative Director, draws much of her inspiration from the natural world. Whether it’s the unprocessed, raw beauty of gemstones, the organic contours of the Sussex landscape, or the gradual, natural erosion along the chalky cliffs of the Seven Sisters on the Sussex shore. This deep connection to nature and our surroundings ensures that every piece we create is imbued with a sense of place and purpose. Expect rugged textures, distinctive patterns, and beautiful curves.

We believe that jewellery should be as unique as the person who wears it. That’s why each of our designs carries a distinctive flair, offering you the opportunity to customise and connect with your own sense of style. Our approach seamlessly blends contemporary aesthetics with timeless elegance, resulting in pieces that are both modern and classic, and that resonate with your individual taste on a deeper level. At Pruden and Smith, our jewellery is not just an accessory, it’s a meaningful expression of who you are.

Craftsmanship is not just a skill — it's a legacy

At Pruden and Smith, craftsmanship is more than a technique; it’s a tradition rooted in our heritage as goldsmiths. Our story traces back to Dunstans, where generations honed their skills and built a legacy of excellence in jewellery-making. Today, this tradition lives on through Simon Alexander, our Head Jeweller, whose decades of experience as a goldsmith bring unparalleled expertise to every piece we create.

Simon’s mastery, combined with innovative design and time-honoured techniques, ensures that every piece of jewellery is not only beautifully made but also carries the weight of history and the promise of lasting value. At Pruden and Smith, craftsmanship is our way of honouring the past while creating meaningful pieces for the future.
